Thoughts on Product

I really enjoyed using this product – it does exactly what is says on the bottle and it work really well! It left Blossom’s coat feeling very soft and gave her a lovely shine. It whitened her white areas, enhanced the colour of her black patches and left her coat clean for a good week! The tea tree oil gave it a nice scent.

Rating

I am going to rate this product 5/5 star. I worked so well, it did exactly what the bottle said and I will definitely be buying it again!

A Busy Week (or Two!) – A Little Life Update

Sorry for the lack of posts recently – I have been working most days recently, so I haven’t had any time to sort some more posts out. I’ve been finding that after I finish work and get home, I just crash as I am so tired.

I’ve finally got some spare time – I am currently sitting waiting for my car to be serviced( so I thought it would be a good time to write a little update.

Like last month I haven’t been spending as much time at the yard as I have been doing full days at work, meaning that I have only really being going to feed Blossom, pull her fly rug forward and pick out her feet. I’ve been on a couple a short hacks just around the village but that’s all that I’ve really done with her recently.

Along with working full time and sorting out Blossom, I’ve have also been trying to fit in some study time (which is still going slow).

Hopefully toward the end of the month I’ll be able to focus a bit more on the blog and start writing more frequently again.

Let me know if there is anything you want me to review or talk about.

Thoughts on Product

Primarily I purchased this product, to try and help stop one of Blossom’s rugs from rubbing her mane out. I  was applying to the affected area once a day, as well as applying to the inside of the rug.

I am now currently using it as a grooming spray – where I have been spraying it onto a goat hair body brush and brushing it over Blossom’s body. This has really helped removing any excess loose hair/dirt that has been left after brushing her.

Before&After

Rating

* * * *

I found this product worked well as a grooming spray, which has a nice scent. I was able to get Blossom’s coat really clean and shiny.

I found when I was using it for rug rubs that it worked okay, it did prevent her mane from coming out, but she was still slightly sore from the rubs. I think that a lycra hood/neck cover would be more effective.

I would recommend this product to other horse owners!

Rain, Rain and More Rain – The Joys of British Summertime

Where has the lovely sunny weather gone?! Today in not so sunny Suffolk it has been raining constantly since about half past nine this morning.

Luckily I have been at work in the shop all day so I didn’t get too damp. But in Blossom’s case, she is absolutely soaked (poor pony!) – I feel so mean as currently she hasn’t got a rug on. She did have her fly rug on, but I thought there was no use keeping it on while it’s pouring with rain.

Damp pony – looking very unimpressed about the rain!

I was going to put her rain sheet on but as it is British summertime it has just a little to humid for her to have it on – she had it on for all of five minutes and was far too warm underneath, so I decided she could go naked until the weather dries up!

She was happy after I gave her her dinner and a few treats and then went back to enjoying munching on some hay.

Hopefully we will get some nicer weather before the Autumn comes along. It feels like we haven’t had much of a summer! And it also doesn’t help that the days are going so quickly and the months are racing by.

If the weather is nice on Saturday, me and Blossom may venture out for a wander round the village. I may even do a little blogpost about it – keep an eye out!

Hawkins Organic Summer Offer: First Impressions

I have been wanting to try the Hawkins Organic Buck Off  Fly Repellent for a while now, after I saw it being advertised in the July issue of Absolute Horse. I like the idea that it is made of all natural and organic ingredients, as well as being manufactured in Suffolk – I like to support local businesses!

I finally got round to ordering some, but instead of buying just the fly repellent I chose the Summer Offer which includes:

  • Buck Off Fly Repellent (500ml)
  • Best in Show Shampoo (500ml)
  • Lemon Aid Anti-Fly Wash
  • Summer Holidays Hoof Gel (150ml)

It costs £25.00 (plus £6.95 postage), meaning you save £9.00!

You also have an option to switch the Best in Show Shampoo to the Blanc Canvas Shampoo.

First Impressions

I placed my order on the 2nd August (late afternoon) on the Hawkins Organic website, which was quick and easy to use. I payed sercurely with Paypal. It was expected to be delivered within 3 days of it being dispatched and it was delivered quickly – I revicieved it on the 4th August.

Everything was delivered in a cardboard box and each item was wrapped in a good layer of bubble wrap to protect everything in transit. Also in the box was a card advertising the brand and also a discount code for my next purchase (which I will defiantly be using!).

All of the products smell amazing and I cannot wait to start using them. And an added bonus was a free sample of the Winter Warmer After Exercise Wash, which again smells amazing and has a hint of Cinnamon, Ginger and Clove, giving it a really Christmasy scent!

Overall I am really impressed with my 1st experience of using Hawkins Organic and will defiantly be using them again in the future. The website is easy to use, the customer service was brilliant and the delivery was super quick.

I will be recommending them to others!

Product Review – Shapley’s Mane Mousse

Product Overview

This product can used to help achieve tight, even plaits, tame manes, adds wave to hair, keep tails in shape, controlling stray hairs and can be applied to feathered legs to give the appearance of fullness. It is not sticky or greasy and can be applied to wet or dry hair.

You can apply the mousse either  directly onto the mane/tail or it can be sprayed it into your hand and then applied to the mane/tail. The product should then be rubbed into the mane evenly to give the best result.

RRP £16.50

It is available on horsehealth.co.uk

Thoughts on Product

Oh my goodness – this product is amazing! It is easy to apply, it does not leave your hands feeling greasy or sticky after applying to the mane/tail and does what it says on the tin! I found that it left no stray hairs, thus laying the mane all to one side (this has been a problem in the past as Blossom’s mane is very fluffy!). I had more grip of the hair when plaiting, creating a tighter neater plait. I also like the idea of a mousse instead of a spray, allowing you to apply it to specific places with ease.

I am going to rate this product – 5/5.

This product is amazing and I would defiantly recommend to anyone who has a horse. This product should be in everyone’s grooming kit, especially if you are having to plait up.

Bath Time For Blossom

As the weather was nice yesterday and I had a free day to do whatever I like, I decided to give Blossom a bath. She was such a good horse and was very well behaved – she stood quietly the whole time and was rewarded with a few treats (which she loved!).

Mid-wash, she doesn’t seem too impressed!

I used the Wahl Oatmeal Essence shampoo, along with the Supreme Products Stain Remover shampoo for her tail. I found the pebble brush by Hy worked really well (along with a lot of elbow grease!) to work in the shampoo and remove any stains. I chose to use the oatmeal shampoo as it has soothing properties and does not irritate the skin like some shampoos, especially at this time of year when poor Blossom is covered in fly bites.

After I’d rinsed everything, I dried her of with some microfibre towels and the Multi-towel by Showmaster – which was really handy as it has hand slots allowing me to thoroughly dry Blossom and it also absorbed so much water.

I then applied some NAF grooming spray to her mane and tail, to make them silkly smooth.

She is now all soft and fluffy. And looks super duper clean – I wonder how long it will last!

Clean pony – it’s amazing what a bit of elbow grease and some shampoo can do!

July Favourites

This month has flown by (again) – I cannot believe we are already more than half way through the year! I’ve found this month I haven’t been spending as much time down the yard as I’ve been working quite a few more hours. Luckily both of my parents are now off work for the summer, so they have been kindly keeping an eye on Blossom.

So this months favourites will be about the products  that I have been using (and loving), instead of the usually horse products. I hope maybe next months favourites will be more about the horsey products again!

L’Oreal Genius Aloe Water

I have been using this moisturiser both in the morning and before going to bed. In the evening I apply it after I have cleansed and toned my face and neck. I like the idea that it is a liquid moisturiser instead of a cream and you only have to use a small amount (around the size of a pea). It does not make my skin feel oily and my skin looks hydrated and refreshed. I have also noticed that the redness on my cheeks has become more subtle (I’m not sure whether it is the moisturiser or something else within my skin routine).

L’Oreal Paris Elvive Extraordinary Clay Shampoo & Conditioner

I have only been using both the shampoo and conditioner for the last week of July and I have to say that it has made such a difference to my hair. After using it for the first time my hair was so much softer and looked so much more healthier just after the one use! Again a little goes a long way.

Benefit: It’s Potent! Eye Cream

Again another skin care product which I have really been enjoying. I have been using this in the evening before bed. It helps with the puffiness under my eyes and just makes me feel refreshed before going to bed! I have only got the miniature size at the moment but I will defiantly be buying the full sized version!

Soap & Glory Archery Volu-Boost Brow Fibre Gel

I am a big fan of the Soap & Glory products and especially this product. I do not wear a lot of make up on a regular basis, but I do like to make sure my eyebrows look nice. This product really helps with it, as it it tinted – so there is no need to fill in my brows. And second of all, it include small fibres to make my brows look fuller. This product makes it quick and easy to do my brows in the morning rush!

The Shopaholic Book Series by Sophie Kinsella

I have really been enjoying reading this series, especially after a long day at work – it helps me to wind down by getting my nose into a book. I find I really connect with the main character Rebecca Bloomwood, as we both have a love of spending money!

I have already read – Confessions of a Shopaholic (Book 1), Shopaholic Abroad (Book 2), Shopaholic Ties the Knot (Book 3), Shopaholic & Sister (Book 4) and Shopaholic & Baby (Book 5).

I am currently reading the 6th book – Mini Shopaholic, which I am loving. I have not been able to put down the whole series and they are such an easy read and a page turner!

Goodreads App

This app has really helped me with keeping track of what page I am on in a book. It keeps a percentage on how far you have read and after you have finished the book you can rate it – which in the long run the app will give you suggestions of other books that you may enjoy.

I also like the idea that you can keep track of which books you have read and books that you are wanting to read in the future. The app also includes reviews of books, allowing you to see if it is the right book for you. You can also leave reviews yourself, to let others know on how much you enjoyed the book.

The other reason why I love this app is because you can download it for FREE!

I hope you enjoyed this slightly different blog post. I will be back to the horsey post as soon as I can (there are some scheduled for the next few weeks).

SleekEZ

Thoughts of Product

I have been using the 5″ blade. Overall I think this product is great – I think everyone should have one in their grooming kits! It removes any excess hair effectively and with ease. The wooden handle is easy to hold and is very simple to use. Not only does it remove any excess hair but also help to draw any dirt and dust from the coat.

Rating

I am going to rate this product – 4/5.

I would defiantly recommend this product to other horse owners!

One of Blossom’s ‘Special’ Moments – The Hay Box

So today I went down to see Blossom after I had finished work, to go and give her feed and put some fly spray on. As I went down I couldn’t see her standing in her usual place by the gate, but was grazing instead.

I call her over and she comes walking to the gate, she has her feed and I apply some fly spray while she was eating. It’s then she starts acting odd, she goes to eat some hay from her hay box but stretches to get it and then quickly pulls some out.

Look at those donkey ears!

She continues doing this very cautiously, so I grab some hay out of the box and give it to her. She takes it out of my hand after snorting at me and walking backwards to try and get away. I them leave her be and sit down on the other side of the fence just to she what she does. She goes back over to the hay box, but stands with a bit of distance between her and the box. Where every so often she would cautiously take a slight step forward and stretch her neck out to try and get some hay, but would then start snorting.

She keeps doing this for about 5 minutes and in the end I shuffle the hay around the box, to which I find after that she is happier to eat from it.

I came to the conclusion that it may have been some older hay that someone had put on her box and she wasn’t sure on the scent. Or she possible could of zapped her self on the fence and had scared herself.

As I was walking back up the hill to the yard, I saw that she was standing happily eating hay from the box. She is one silly pony!

I hoped you enjoyed this post – I thought it would be funny to share!
